The ASAE MMC+Tech Conference always presents an exciting opportunity for nonprofits and association professionals to come together to take their marketing and technology strategies to new heights.
As I prepare to attend, I’ve been reflecting on this year’s conference theme, “Bring on the Future”. As a digital strategist, embracing the future has meant embracing the evolution of AI technology as a tool that can help nonprofits and associations to more easily reach their audience.
Evolution is nothing new. In my lifetime, we’ve seen the internet evolve dramatically. It seems like in the blink of an eye we witnessed the birth of the World Wide Web, the emergence of Google, the rise of social media, and the transformation of smartphone technology. With every technological evolution, our society has adapted along with it.
In the spirit of “Bring on the Future”, I’d like to share three examples of how AGP has embraced the evolution of AI and how we’re using it to better help associations and nonprofits reach their audience.
Website-Based AI Search
By now, you’ve no doubt encountered some variation of AI Search on the internet. If you’ve searched Google, you’ve seen Google’s AI, Gemini, in action. It takes your search and crawls the internet to compile the most detailed/thorough answer possible to answer your query. As a result, humans have become accustomed to using search to find a summarized version of the best answer.
When a user visits your website, they expect to quickly find the best answer when they use your on-site search.
We’ve embraced that idea by using an AI Search on our own website so that associations and nonprofits can easily find what they are looking for. Unlike the version of AI search you see on Google, this AI search crawls only our content to formulate the best answer.

For example, when you search “association web design”, you’ll find that the result gives a detailed summary of our website design offerings and services for associations and how we help. At the bottom of the search, you’ll find links to the specific sources AI used to craft a detailed answer to this query. This includes case studies, blog articles, and landing pages that specifically detail how we help nonprofits and associations.
Language Translation
Another area where we’re embracing AI is for translating large amounts of text on websites. We implemented AI translation technology as part of helping Parents as Teachers National Center to create a digital version of their core curriculum. This curriculum was designed to help parent educators with early childhood development education.
Many parent educators serve diverse communities and need the flexibility to translate the educational resources offered into different languages. To achieve this, we built a custom AI Translator and integrated it directly into WordPress. As part of the customization, the AI Translator was trained with the Parents as Teachers materials and glossaries to maintain consistent translations for their curriculum and program-specific terms.
In addition to translating large batches of text on pages, the AI Translator was able to translate taxonomy terms, menu labels, and navigation structures to ensure the site had a holistic multilingual experience.
Content Optimization, SEO & AEO
Not long ago, SEO used to be an exercise in ensuring your content was filled with the right keywords to ensure your website was optimized for search.
With the evolution of AI, the game has shifted from using the right keywords to answering your users’ questions with the most complete and concise answer. Your content should not only answer the question quickly, but it should be easily scannable for Learning Language Models.
To help our clients get ahead of this, our content and UX strategists conduct SEO + LLM audits to help our clients create a strategy to optimize their content for AI and user intent. By creating a strategy, our clients will have the tools they need to integrate answer engine optimization with traditional SEO to optimize your content.
See You at ASAE MMC + Tech
The use cases I’ve touched on here are just scratching the surface of how AI can be used to help associations and their members. AI is meant to help all associations better serve their members. You don’t need to have a big budget or in-depth technical expertise to leverage this technology. I highly encourage you to learn more about how AI could help your association to evolve for the better.
Many of the sessions taking place during the ASAE mmc+tech conference will focus on AI Technology and what that means for associations. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about how this technology can help your organization.
For those of you attending, I’d love for you to drop by the AGP booth and say hello. I’ll be there with Mark Leta, our VP of Technology, and Ren John, our VP of AI Strategy and Solutions.
